At Day One, we believe in the power of film.

In our eyes, there’s no better way to showcase what it's like to work at your organisation than to show candidates real life experiences voiced by real employees, communicating your culture and values along the way.  When these types of films are done well and delivered at the right point in the candidate journey, they’re a powerful way of converting more of your matched talent into applicants.

Go Beyond Glassdoor and open your businesses Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to prospective colleagues.

Making video creation easy

Working closely with our video partners Alchemy Films, we’ve developed a content package that makes creating these types of films easy for Talent Seekers, at a cost designed to deliver value from day one.

Simply add a film creation pack to your basket during the checkout process, and the Alchemy Films team will do the rest, reaching out to you to arrange the creation of a suite of culture and values films that truly reflect your organisation.

We’ll then embed these films on your Day One company profile page for prospective applicants to view, as well as for use far and wide across your other marketing channels.

How does it work?

An Alchemy filmmaker will spend the day shooting at your premises, filming short interviews with  up to four people from your organisation designed to tease out your culture and values, as well as capturing each person’s unique Day One story.

Once the footage is edited, you’ll receive:

🎞️1 x  60-90s film showcasing your company values, in landscape and portrait (for social media use)
📽️1 x 60-90s film showcasing your company culture, in landscape and portrait (for social media use)
🎬Up to 4 individual Day One story films, capturing the unique story of each person’s first day with your organisation and their story of how they got there, in landscape and portrait (for social media use)

Alchemy Films FAQs

Who will arrange the filming?

Following checkout, you’ll receive an email from a producer at Alchemy films, walking you through the process and inviting you to join a quick 30 minute video call.

On this call, you’ll speak to a member of the Alchemy team to arrange a filming day, as well as a checklist of the things you’ll need to set up prior to your filmmaker arriving.

What do I need to set up on the day of filming?

You’ll need to find a nice space at your premises to conduct up to four short interviews - the best spaces have a bit of depth to them (i.e. aren't too small) and add context to what your business or organisation does.

What will happen on the filming day?

Your filming day will be roughly split into two sessions - the first will involve filming interviews, and the second will involve capturing what’s known in the business as b-roll.  B-roll, or cutaways, are snippets of video that the editor will use to add interest and variety to your films.  What that b-roll entails is entirely up to you, but usually focuses on capturing scenes that typify a day for your employees.

How long will the interviews last?

Each interview will last no more than 30 minutes.

Our organisation is fully remote and doesn’t have a premises - where can we film?

We’ve designed the pricing model with Alchemy Films to work filming at one location that can be utilised for free. If your business doesn't have a location or office to film at, don't worry! There’s generally lots of options for hiring spaces to use as film locations. Contact us to discuss your requirements before checking out, as there may be an additional fee to arrange this.

How quickly can the videos be ready after filming?

One of the reasons that we’ve partnered with Alchemy Films (other than being Employer Brand specialists), is that their film crew are centrally located in the UK and can work very quickly. As soon as your filming date is booked, you’ll receive a timeline for when your edits will be ready to view - this is typically within 2-4 weeks, but can often be much faster if you need to meet a specific deadline.

Can I make any changes to the videos once they’ve been edited?

As the videos are designed to be short, concise reflections of your values and culture, amends aren't usually needed - but in the event that tweaks are required to the edits, Alchemy allow for one amend cycle to each film.
